Do you have a secret that is affecting your peace of mind? Does something you’ve said or done years ago make you feel unworthy or dirty still today? Do you have a regret that pins you in a corner, shouting, “Shame on you”?
If so, I understand. I spent years stuck in self hatred and remorse. I allowed my secrets to bleed through yesterday’s pages straight into my todays, stealing my hope and joy. But thank God, I didn’t stay there forever. I wanted out badly enough to wrestle and push and fight. Today I’m no longer a slave to my secrets. I’m free to share, thanks to the healing I’ve found through Jesus.
You, too, can overcome. You can choose to share your secret, accept truth and finally rest in the healing hand of God. He is for you. No matter what you’ve done, God won’t stop loving you. (Romans 8:38-39) He will pursue you all the days of your life. Even on your deathbed, He will sing a love song over you. Are you listening?
Please don’t let fear or shame rob you of what you could have with God today. Say yes to the One who loves you more than anyone on earth can. Start by sharing your secret with God. He’s stooping low and leaning in to listen.
Just watch what God will do. He’s bigger and stronger than anything we try to hide. Secrets can’t stop Him.
So why the talk about secrets today?
Because this morning I spent an hour sharing online with two sweet friends, Lisa Shaw and Tammy Rude, about our common secret.
Lisa Shaw has an amazing heart for people to see themselves through God’s eyes. I’ve met Lisa a couple times and she is the real deal, a minister at heart. Her love and passion for people is contagious. Jesus is HER Lord. I feel blessed to call her sister and dear friend.
I’ve never met Tammy in person, but we found each other’s blogs years ago because of our common bond. She’s precious. She’s whole, reaching out to help others. I loved hearing Tammy’s story live. What a powerful communicator she is. Her story touched my life in a fresh way today. I thank God for Tammy. Maybe someday I will we meet face to face. 🙂

QUESTION: Do you believe secrets make people sick? If so, why or why not. Please join the conversation in the comments. NO sign up required.

I love what an older, godly mentor once told me, “Confession is happy business.” I’d never thought of confession in that way. To me, confession reflected shame, being caught and “fessing up.”
The Greek verbs for confession, exomologeō [eks-o-mo-lo-ge’-ō] and homologeō [ho-mo-lo-ge’-ō] reveals the actions we take. To confess means to profess:
* acknowledge openly and joyfully.
* to one’s honour: to celebrate, give praise to
* to say the same thing as another, i.e. to agree with [God]
* not to deny
* declare* to admit or declare one’s self guilty of what one is accused of
* to declare openly, speak out freely
I love how your brokenness and healed heart is free to honor, celebrate and praise Jehovah Rapha, The Lord God Who Heals.

Wow, Scoti. That is some rich content here. Thank you so much for sharing what confession means. I love the positive spin, I’ve never seen that before. Thanks for making my morning.
So glad we are meeting face to face again. Healing, refreshing and inspiring times are yet to come.
I love you, friend.

Beautiful photo, Tiffany. Very powerful. Is that you?
Your post is also beautiful, a true witness to healing. Yes, I know my secrets have kept me sick, but it’s made me sicker to share them with the wrong people, so I wondered what’s a girl to do? However, years ago I found a group where I could share freely and without fear of being judged. It’s a gift I try to share with others. I love that you offer a place for hurting people through your blog and comments. Keep writing. We need you.

Thank you, Kim. You are right in mentioning sharing with the wrong people. That’s definitely important to know the difference. I’m happy to hear you have a safe place with real friends. Sounds like a cozy nest to me. 🙂 Fly free!
