Recently I gave my daughter my spiral notebook so she could write or draw on a piece of paper. I flipped to the first blank page and handed it to her. Minutes later, Hannah showed me the page and asked, “Does this look familiar, Mom?” I glanced at Hannah’s page and saw something interesting.
My words rewritten. Names and phone numbers a little wiggly but readable.
Hannah explained that she just copied what she saw. Because I wrote on the page before, she was able to trace what I did almost letter by letter. My pen made an impression. Hannah had a choice when I gave her a blank piece of paper. She could have written her name, a poem, or a story. She could have drew silly faces, flowers, cats or dogs. Hannah did none of these–instead she copied me.
Makes me rethink how I act and speak everyday. Hannah is watching and is ready to copy my impression.
We all have a sphere of influence whether we believe it or not. If someone in your life were to copy you, what would they look like? What would they do or say?

Such a great post! I have a daughter too and I am constantly reminded about how she watches me and looks up to me. A lot of pressure, but so worth it!
Thanks for stopping by. You have a beautiful spot here.

Tiffany,
Things that make you cling to Jesus! This is definitely one of them – knowing my children are watching me and I’m setting an example – I need Him!
God bless you … this was a wonderful illustration!

I’ve been thinking of this too. Our actions mean so much to those around us. Not just our children, but our spouses too.

This is very thought provoking! I read another post at Julie Todd’s place that talked about us being in His shadow—reflecting Christ—this ties right in!

Awesome reminder Tiffany,
If there is one thing I have learned over the years, is how much we influence those around us, our lives, our actions, speak louder then our words.
One of my favorite sayings is “Share Christ, speak if you have too!”
We are open books being read by others, what is our story?
Blessings,
