What compels someone to slap bumper sticker after bumper sticker to the back of their vehicle?
What compels a person to tattoo their bodies from head to toe like a color by number painting?
What compels you to live like you do?
We are all compelled by something or someone. The question is who or what, and why.
I want to be compelled by the love of God. To live differently, set apart. To share boldly in the face of fear. To go the distance to rescue a neighbor. To stand up for injustice. To fend for the weak. To give what I have without reserve, whether it’s talent, time or resources.
God is grabbing my heart again, I feel like Job.
I too will tell what I know.
For I am full of words,
and the spirit within me compels me;
inside I am like bottled-up wine,
like new wineskins ready to burst.
Job 32:17-19 (NIV)
Father God, thank you for compelling me to share what I know. You, Jesus. Only You. Your love and grace and goodness. Thank you for rescuing me and calling me Your own. My heart is satisfied by the joy of knowing You. My savior and LORD, I will not stop sharing You. Like a bumper sticker, I’m stuck on You. Amen

Tiffany you worked the bumper stickers into a post, very cleverly.
I agree with you, I am "stuck on Jesus".

Hi Tiffany,
When I ask myself, What compels you to live as you do? I answer, "The unbridled, unrestrained and irresistable love and grace of God." I don't want to ever take God and others for granted; I do so want to please Him by the life I now live in Christ.
Blessings and peace to you this weekend.

Amen…I want to be compelled by the love of God, too…if His great compassion can't compel us to reach out to others…then what would?

I want my faith to compel me forward, not my flesh nor my feelings. Unfortunately, flesh and feeling are giving my faith a run for its money, and I'm struggling. The enemy's on to me… he knows my weakness and my propensity toward falling under pressure. Thankfully, I'm on to him as well. So is my Father. Together, we'll forge ahead. I just wish the struggle wasn't so prevalent.
Love you. Thanks for your understanding and for stopping by. I wish you lived closer as well.
peace~elaine

Thanks so much for stopping by Tiffany. I just read your story and it's very inspiring. My husband has a similar story and I shared our marriage story back in April on our 24th anniversary! It is by God's grace that we made it through the first few years, but what a great and mighty God he is!
Blessings,
Marcia

I love this post and I love your heart. I think we share a kindred spirit. I want to be compelled by jesus…just Jesus But I'm with Elaine right now in that my feelings and emotions are vying for the top spot. Thankfully I know the Spirit is stronger than any of my stuff.

In everything that I do, I want to be compelled by the love a relentless God who never stops pursuing me, even when I try and push Him off into a corner. He will always seek me out. Thank you so much for your amazing prayer today. I am so blessed to know you!

Something to think about. I would like to say 'my faith', and it does to a large degree, but too often I am compelled by feelings and emotions–something that needs to change in me. I guess the Holy Spirit really has His work cut out for him.

Wonderful question and answer. I want to be compelled by God to do what's right and take the path he directs me on.

What a great post idea Tiffany. God-birthed, I'm sure. You can see God in anything and I think that's real writing talent for HIM! ๐
I love what you said about being a Jesus Lover, you wrote my heart. I don't know what, why, when, how because my love for Him runs so deep. He is so faithful and always gives me surprises, makes life fun to wake up to every morning. To…see Him at work in my life and others is so exciting to me.
Love and hugs to you sweet sister.

By actively seeking joy only in Christ… "we" will love the Savior and find peace and joy in Him alone…then all the necessary good works will naturally follow.

Tiffany –
When you said, "We are all compelled by something or someone," it made me think about somethings someone else said.
They said that we are all made to worship. Problem is is that many worship false gods or idols or themselves. We know we worship Jesus Christ.
We all are going to worship someone or something, just like you mention we are all compelled by something or someone.
I certainly want to direct my worship toward the One who is worthy. Thank you Jesus for compelling us by your love and for directing our worship toward You!
