Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 (NIV)
Do you believe this verse?
What are your heart’s desires? Aren’t your desires deeper than a good job or influential ministry, a clean house, and a thin figure? Would you say the deepest desires of your heart are more along the lines of: to love and be loved, to be truly known, to experience greater peace and joy?
The closer I get to God, the more I love this verse. Because inside the context of my relationship with Him is where I find my greatest delight.
God Himself becomes the greatest desire of my heart.
Thank you, Jesus!

This is a good question Tiffany. I can honestly say that I desire to know the Lord better and to grow in my relationship with Him. My answer would have been different before but going through a variety of trials has awakened me to the fact that He really is the answer to everything I really need.
Love and blessings,
Debbie
Robin's New Song says
Oh yes, to be delighting in Him as the joy of my life, I can be confident that the desires of my heart belong to Him too. That really should be our only goal.
Bless you Tiffany!

Good verse. And I think drawing closer to him is key. That's when the desires of our heart are things he can honor. Good verse for us to meditate on today.

Tiffany… amazing… before I read your answer… I was thinking to be as close to God as I can be having a great relationship with Him. Your answer was almost identical to what I was thinking. Praise God how He works like that. Amen.

Very timely for me as I am praying for those things… to find my true joy in the Lord and to find my true desires through Him.
I agree… a great verse!
Ike says
God made us to magnify his greatness – the way telescopes magnify stars. He created us to put his goodness and truth and beauty and wisdom and justice on display. The greatest display of God's glory comes from deep delight in all that he is. This means that God gets the praise and we get the pleasure. God created us so that he is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him!

Hmm…. The desire of my heart…. to live in the truth of who I really am… to live in my true identity….
Hope you are doing well. How's your weekend been?
I've had a crazy, busy week, but a good one. Two dates at Starbucks and two dates at Chick-Fil-A this week… a good week.
Loved the picture here as well as your heart written.
Hope all is well!

Yes – I believe it!
The desires of my heart I beleive He puts on my heart are these:
*To walk daily in His Presence!
*To live a life pleasing to Him.
*To spill over onto others – what He has poured into me.
*To shine His Light and bring honor and glory to His Name.
*To truly love Him from the depth of my heart!

I love that you said that God Himself becomes the desire of your heart. I feel the same way. I've been thinking a lot lately about how we love Him because He first loved us. I love you too, Jesus. I love you, too.

I love this verse too, because there is nothing in this life that gives me more pleasure than having MY GOD close to me. Nothing beats his presence. I have had too many encounters to not know him. This is truly 'Heaven on Earth' for me. Blessings.
