It’s springtime in the Rockies, which means wind, sunshine, rain, snow, longer days, sunshine, and hail. Did I say sunshine? Springtime means green grass, flowering trees, irises and tulips. Springtime means more bird songs. Yes, the birds are in full song these days. I’m loving it. Even my favorite hummingbirds are back! One flew right up to my kitchen window as I was typing this. 🙂 WOW!
Hearing birds singing remind me to sing to the Lord. Birds sing all the time. They sing in storms, they sing in the sunlight, and they even sing in the dark.
(I recorded this video last summer when the birds woke me up at 4:45AM!!! I’m not sure I was smiling, but I was fascinated. Didn’t they know what time it was?)
If these birds can sing in the dark, so can you and me.
Father God, life is hard lately. So many are suffering and waiting and afraid of the future. I sense a darkness over the hearts of people. Please LORD give us the strength to sing praises to You. You are worthy of our praise ALL the time. There’s something about lifting up our voices to You that changes our perspective. And right about now, we need a change in perspective. We need joy, laughter and hope again. Ultimately what we need most is You. Today help us to sing. May our songs be a sweet sound to Your ear. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Sing songs from your heart to Christ. Sing praises over everything, any excuse for a song to God the Father in the name of our Master, Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:19-20, The Message.

Amen. I am lifting my voice in song to my Father with you sis. I love you.

We have some birds right outside our bedroom window that are singing early in the morning too! I agree with you: sing in the light, sing in the dark. Make some noise and give Him praise.
Thanks.

I love the little humingbirds that gather on our back deck around the petunias…the birds can teach us things that's for sure…may I remember to keep singing in the dark!

How the birds speak to our hearts, lifting us up with a song, even before the sun is up. We've built our business on the beauty of birds, which adorn all of our iron garden pieces! Our Lord told us to "consider the birds". So much to learn from them. Thanks for the reminder. God bless you, and have a great weekend.

Awesome reminder! One of the things I noticed most about moving from CO to NC is all the birds we have here. And that they are around year-round. I never get bored of watching and listening to them. Now, I will think of your reminder to sing praises as I listen to them. Blessings!

“Let us then as Christians rejoice that we see around us on every hand the decay of the institutions and instruments of power, see intimations of empires falling to pieces, money in total disarray, dictators and parliamentarians alike nonplussed by the confusion and conflicts which encompass them. For it is precisely when every earthly hope has been explored and found wanting, when every possibility of help from earthly sources has been sought and is not forthcoming, when every recourse this world offers, moral as well as material, has been explored to no effect, when in the shivering cold the last faggot has been thrown on the fire and in the gathering darkness every glimmer of light has finally flickered out, it’s then that Christ’s hand reaches out sure and firm. Then Christ’s words bring inexpressible comfort, then his light shines brightest, abolishing the darkness forever.”

Tiffany, you have blessed me this night! Just hearing the birds sing encouraged me! I love birds, and hummingbirds are my favorite, too.
There does seem to be a lot of oppressiveness right now. I know that my husband and I are going through so much with restoring our home after the fire we had last November. No, we're still not back home, yet, and it does get tiring.
But, God's grace is so awesome! It is always enough! And, I know there is a reason for everything!
Thank you for this post! God's presence was so real as I read it!

It's a lot easier listening to them at 7:45 AM from my desk then when I'm trying to get some sleep in the early morning hours. Honestly, what could they be doing? You're a better "engager" with creation, sister. I concede this victory to you!
