There’s something powerful about worshipping God in song. I often scan the 1200 seats at my church during worship and pray for God to move in the hearts of men and women. Normally in the hearing impaired section, there are just a few people sitted. This particular service, there were three rows full.
I caught a glimpse of God’s glory as we sang “How Great is Our God” by Chris Tomlin. I stood with tears, watching about fifteen people worship the Lord in sign language. They signed in unison, their arm movements flowed like ballet dancers, their heads lifted toward heaven, and their hearts reverent, praising the greatness of God.
It amazed me watching people demonstrate their love for God in such a visual way. When I think about the fact some of them have no hearing at all, it shocks me knowing they respond to music with such rhythm, grace, and heartfelt song. They offer up a glorious form of worship that pleases God and brings tears to my eyes. They have something precious, the ability to worship God in silence.
They dance.
