Lord God, thank You for the opportunity to celebrate the 4th of July, Independence Day in America. This holiday makes me think of freedom. And I love the word freedom. It’s one of my favorite words. Freedom is a gift and I don’t want to ever take it for granted. When I think of freedom I think of what You have done in my life. I was once bound, but now I am free. Please bring freedom to those in need, especially those who are in desperate need of freedom from addictions, oppression, depression, and so much more.
Show them the greatest freedom of all: freedom in Christ!
Today I pause to meditate on Your Word on freedom.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ; rather, serve one another humbly in love. Galatians 5:13
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. Ephesians 3:12
Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. 1 Peter 2:16
