When I took this picture last July, I wondered if I was the only one who saw this man. This was a busy park, a loud happening art festival. Live music. Booths full of jewelry, paintings and homemade salsas. People shuffled along the sidewalk without a glance his way.
I noticed this dog sniffing the tree. Should I warn him?
Better not wake him.
I wondered what his story was. Was he a regular afternoon park napper just enjoying himself? Was he sick and up all night the night before? Was he without a friend in the world? Did he have a home?
Still today, I wonder how many people right now are walking aimlessly through this world without hope. Looking for a place to rest. Needing a meal. Aching for a friend to talk to. Sleep walking through their days.
I wonder how many are crying out to God, “Remember me.”

Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:37-40 (NIV)

I don't think God forgets any of us, but sometimes we forget each other — and should not. It would have been interesting to talk to the man and learn his story. Everyone has a story. Perhaps even the dog was his. Who knows? Stranger things have happened.

Elizabeth, thanks for the dialogue. You are right God doesn't forget us. Never for a second.
I agree with you that we forget each other. That's why I wrote this. We are to be His hands and feet to the world. I want to see the world changed..
I know the dog wasn't his. It was on a leash of someone else. ๐
Have a great weekend!
Peace, my friend.

Powerful post, Tiffany. I like Brandon Heath's song "Give me your eyes." I wonder how we would view life and people if we had the eyes of God?
Sending blessings and hugs your way,
Lisa
Daughter of the KING says
Glad to see this post Tiffany. I agree we not only forget each other but we often we forget where God has brought us from. We are all to quick to judge forgetting that it is all by His grace we are becoming a new creation from glory to glory.
Love your tender heart!

Thanks, Lisa. Love that song!
Daughter of the King, oh how I wish we would always remember where we came from. And judge not..
Thanks, friends.

You are right to remind us that needy people are all around, and also people who give and nurture.

I agree with Elizabeth that everyone has a story…and a heart longing for something…or Someone…the Harvest is full…..

Hi Tiffany,
Each of us is responsible for being a living witness to the salvation of Christ. Mere words can never contend with faith in action.
The fact that you raise these questions to the community reveals your heart and compassion.
It is my heart's desire to be committed to the Lord and not hold anything back.

So true.
Even those who appear to have aim are wondering lost in a sea of consummation.

What an amazing observation from such a simple scene…God has given you a gift Tiffany and I am so glad you share it with all of us!

I'm a people watcher, too…always wondering what people's stories are. I've come to look at this preoccupation as the Holy Spirit making me aware of others around me. Sometimes He wants me to pray, other times He calls me to action.
Loved this post my sweet friend.

Elizabeth's thoughts were mine as well. I do not think God ever forgets us (though we may think he does), but we certainly do not see one another.
Thank-you for this beautiful reminder to open our eyes and truly see one another.

Tiffany,
What a good reminder to look out for those around us who are in need.
That picture is such a vivid one!
We have started noticing more and more hitch-hikers, homeless people, and hurting people. However, they are starting to look more and more like "us." The hungry are men and women who look like they could live next door.
Thanks for the encouragement to notice!
I appreciate your post…

What a great reminder that we are too reach out and be His hands and feet. I think sometimes we get so busy with our own lives that we forget that we need to reach out to others.
