Father in heaven, I praise You. I praise You for the love You show to all people, especially the lonely.
I pause today to lift up the lonely. They are right in front of so many of us and we have no idea who they are. They are suffering silently. People we least expect, but praise God You see them. Their loneliness is not hidden from You. You are close to the widow and the orphan. You are close to isolated pastors all across the world, business men and women, teachers, artists, doctors, husbands, wives, and children. No people group is exempt from going through a season of loneliness.
Loneliness has a purpose. You are part of that purpose. You invite the lonely to come in, into Your heart. To snuggle at Your chest.
God, I pray You will draw the lonely close to You right now. Use this difficult time to woo Your sons and daughters into a love relationship with You. Speak to them up, close and personal. Let them know they are never truly alone.
Nothing separates Your love, not even the depths of loneliness. You are there.
Lord, Your Word says in Psalm 139 You know us and there is nowhere we can go where You are not still there.
You were there in prison with Joseph, Genesis 39:20-21.
You were there with Hagar when she ran away, You showed her You are El Roi, the God who sees me, Genesis 16:13.
You were there with Abraham as he hiked up a mountain to sacrifice his only son. There in that dark, lonely hour You provided a ram, Genesis 22:13.
You were there with Jesus in the garden when He cried out, “Take this cup from me. Not my will, but Yours be done,” Luke 22:42.
God, You are still there. With us. You are Emmanuel, God with us. Thank You that You never leave or forsake us. You told Joshua, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NIV) emphasis mine.
Today I pray that all who feel the depths of loneliness will know You are with them. Loneliness is not too big for You. You are bigger still. Come Lord Jesus, make Yourself known. Please let them sense Your great love.
In Your beautiful name I pray, Amen.
