Sometimes I travel on lonely roads. Do you?
Right now I’m on one. I’m attempting to write a book on freedom from the ugly monster: shame. It’s a slow, bumpy dirt road. I feel uncertain at each sharp curve. I wish I had a passenger riding along with me. The radio never seems to drowned out my desire for a real live person. I’d love the comforting voice of a tour guide describing what’s coming next. I wanna know what’s next.
But God won’t have it.
It’s on that lonely road, God speaks deeply to me. Steering my heart back to His. Giving me words I’ve never thought of. Showing me things I’ve never seen before.
And there on the lonely road, I’m reminded I’m never truly alone. I sense God’s Hand on my steering wheel. I feel His breath blow through my hair as He whispers, “I’ll never leave you or forsake you. I love you. Let’s enjoy the ride. We’ve got places to go and people to see.”
So I press the gas pedal once again. Trusting Him to lead the way. Thanking Him for the lonely road.
For on the lonely road, I find God to be all I need.

Beautiful! I think God allows those lonely experiences, because like you said it draws us closer and nearer to Him. He truly is all we will ever need. Your book sounds amazing and with His leading and guiding what a comfort and a help it will be to many.

Hi Tiffany,
I do find encouragement reading your blog; I offer a prayer of thanks for God's inspiration in you.
I was thinking yesterday how shame robs a woman. Shame seems to affect men and women differently; perhaps this is only my perspective. I look forward to hearing more on the subject from you.

I always say that we want God to give us an aerial view, to see what's up ahead, but He doesn't work like that. If we had that aerial view, it would most likely overwhelm us, so He, in His wisdom, just gives us what He knows is best.
Blessings,
Marcia

As lonely as that road is, we can endure, because we know that God is with us along the way, and that HIS perfect knowledge and peace will guide us every step of the journey.
I'm on a similar road as I recently began working on my second book. Let's hold each other up in the process:-)

I know that lonely road…have lived it and I know the dance of shame too well. Shame that kept me living less that anyone should…shame that crippled…not letting anyone look in my eyes…in case they saw what I knew – that I wasn't worthy…praying for you as you write…as you listen to His whisper in your spirit…Sarah
