Hi precious friend.
If you are here, you and I have something in common, a not so pretty something. 🙁 First off, I’m sorry for your sexual abuse. I understand the shame and devastation of it. Like you, my story includes sexual abuse, once at age 7 and again at 13. Ever after that as an adult I’ve had several other experiences of feeling violated through sexual words or touch.
No matter if your sexual abuse is a one time experience or a reoccurring trauma, there is HOPE for you. It’s never too late to have your heart touched by the love of God.
Here are some resources you may find helpful. I am not a counselor. However I’ve seen one for help and if you need one, I highly recommend you seek one out. My preference would be a Christian one, Bible based counseling. There’s no shame in seeking help. I don’t care how old you are or how long ago it’s been. I believe God wants His daughters well, free, and living with strength and dignity. Restored in His love.
For each one of us, we must take the steps to get well however God leads us. It’s never too late. And yes, that involves opening up ugly wounds we don’t dare want to look at ever again. But it’s there that we can break free of the feelings of unworthiness and become whole and healed.
