I love climbing walls. Not just any wall–indoor rock climbing walls. And for me, that’s a huge accomplishment because I’m terrified of heights.
My dear friend Pam took these pictures during her visit last week. I wish Pam would have tackled the wall but she was healing from a fractured finger. Next time, Pam?
So she was Flash Gordon instead.
These photos are of me and my two kids. We all made it to the top. This wall was the highest wall I’ve climbed. 60 feet tall. It was fifteen degrees hotter at the top according to the staff. And I felt it. My hands trembled afterwards from the adrenaline.
Rock climbing is such a test of the mind and strength. I love the challenge. It’s like trying to solve a puzzle. It proves to me that fear can be defeated if I set my mind on the goal, not the problem–my fear of heights.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Afraid of heights and still climbing? Props! I’m not so much afraid of heights, but I’m wondering which fears I should be tackling with the same intentionality…
Thanks for the challenge!

You are my hero! (Okay, heroine?) And with pictures to prove it, too!
And now to go after the things that cause fear in my own life…

This has to be a “God thing”…right after I left a comment here, I was blog hopping. I read an article at http://www.patricksponderings.blogspot.com that was all about heroes!
I just thought you might want to check it out!

Thank you all for your comments and encouragement. I’m so glad everyone feels challenges to face their fears. I have found such freedom on the other side of fear.
Joni, I’m humbled to be called a “hero.” That word is hard to accept, especially from a recovering fear-a-holic. Thank you though. It’s daily battle to stand in faith and not bow down to fear. A battle worth fighting for.

Doesn’t rock climbing provide such great analogies for life? Thanks for sharing how you’re conquering your fears and encouraging others to do the same. May we all battle for freedom, and reign victorious!
Blessings to you, Tiffany.
