This morning I drove to rescue my son, or should I say I rescued his car from the school parking lot. Justin accidentally shut his car door while it was still running. Yep, doors were locked and he had to get to class. I wasn’t happy when he called me almost an hour later.
Why?
School is eight miles away. And I had other things I would rather do. I was tired. I even snapped at him, saying, “I’ll bring two gallons of gas after school. Your car will eventually run out of gas.”
After a couple minutes of discussion, I decided to do the right thing and help him.
As I drove to school, I heard God say, “Tiffany, how many times have I came to rescue you?”
“More times than I can count, Lord.”
“Tiffany, LOVE goes the extra mile.”
Thank you, God, for going extra miles to rescue me.
When I got to school I parked my car, hopped into Justin’s car and drove to the nearest gas station. I literally puttered into the station. Yes, on fumes! That would not have been funny to run out of gas… Anyway while I filled up, and I even cleaned his windows. They were filthy. ๐
I’m learning that when I cooperate with God, I find deep satisfaction. It felt good to help my son out.
Love does go the extra mile.
When will I learn that without grumbling and thinking of me first?
Thank you, LORD for the fresh reminder of who You are. Loving. Merciful. The God who goes the extra mile and then some! The One who enabled me to help Justin even though I complained at first. Thank You for the grace to show sacrificial love this morning. Seeing You in my morning made those extra miles worth it. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.

Q4U: Is God asking you to go the extra mile for love today?
If so, I have a feeling you might find a sweet treasure as you keep walking. Stay in stride with His leading. God knows what He’s doing..

Oh, the things a mom does for her kids! Our son ran out of gas about 20 miles from home, and I was NOT a happy camper about the whole thing, but what’s a mom to do?. My son learned a lesson, just as we all do. Yes, love goes the extra mile!

Kids are a good training ground for understanding. I’m always doing this type of thing with my four… even the college-aged ones. I’ve been doing it so long, it’s almost second nature… almost. In recent days, I’ve had to let a few things go along these lines. Demands from others don’t sit well with sickness.
I’m so glad for our Father who never complains when we ask him for more! He willingly loves and gives to us, despite us.
You’re a good mom, Tiffany, and the windows? What a bonus! Does your son know how good he has it?!

Elaine, thanks for stopping in. I am still praying for you during this time. Hopefully you are feeling better day by day. I need to stop in and read your most recent blog entry. Maybe I can this afternoon. I have a meeting soon.
And about the windows, well, let’s just say I want him to SEE clearly when he drives! No excuses for wild driving with a clear view. SMILE!
Love ya,

Yes…Love goes the extra mile. Just think of that “mile” that Jesus walked on His way to Calvary! What a blessing to be loved that much. Don’t you just love what Elaine wrote in the comment above? “Kids are good training ground for understanding.” Wow! I couldn’t have said it better.
Blessings to you, Tiffany! Your son has a good mom ๐

Good job even cleaning the windows! Super funny.
Sometimes when I am required to go “the extra mile I have such a negative attitude that it interferes with anything I might accomplish! This needs to change.

One day at a time, Amy. Or better yet, one extra mile at a time.
God’s grace covers the miles we missed. Hugs!

Yes! My husband is always pulling some sort of stunt & then calls me for help creating drama. It always turns out that, if my hubs would’ve been patient, God sends someone to help, not me. God is so awesome that way.
