“Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey‘s colt.” John 12:15 (NIV)
When I see donkeys, I think of Jesus. I know that sounds funny but it’s true. Jesus chose to ride a donkey through Jerusalem. That triumphant entry still amazes me. I wish I could have seen and heard the crowds that day as they waved palm branches and shouted, “”Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!”
What a humble king!
For me, humility is hard to grasp. Even harder to live by.
Today, I’m asking for a humble heart like Jesus. I’m away on vacation this week. This morning my family and I head out to see the waterfalls in Yellowstone National Park. I’m excited. If there’s one thing that humbles me more than anything, it’s seeing God’s creation and realizing how great God is and how small I am in comparison.
Father God, thank You for sending Your son Jesus to humble Himself and show me how to live. No one who chooses to ride a donkey through a city is trying to exalt themselves.
Today I want to exalt You for who You are. Humble. Holy. King of kings. I’m tired of thinking of me. It’s time to worship You in spirit and in truth. Magnify Yourself. LORD, You are worthy of my praise. All the time. In Jesus name, Amen.

PS Someone might need to read this verse again. Especially the first four words.
What always goes through my mind when traveling in Colorado among the majestic mountains (or even flying about the clouds) is how mighty God–the creator of the universe–is and how small and seemingly insignificant I am…in comparison. Yet He loves me so much more than all those mountains, clouds, stars…after all, He calls me His child.
Hope you are having a great trip!
That is a cute little faithful donkey, and your Bible verse and post are very well thought out.
Have a wonderful time! I like the humble donkeys too. As a child, I took part in a musical about the donkey that carried Mary to Bethlehem. I still remember it fondly.
Hi Tiffany,
I've never been to Yellowstone but pictures of it are inspiring.
Hope you and your family have a great time.

Beautiful reflection on this scripture…
Enjoy your vacation!
Awesome sis, love you.
I'm the "someone" who needed to read the first four words of your verse here.
(((Thank you.)))
Do not be afraid…of tomorrow-of yesterday's mistakes…or of what He has laid at your door to do. Only believe.
Only believe.
Love you!
