(Coke’s trademark tagline is “Open happiness.” God opened Hannah’s lid of happiness yesterday. He poured Himself in and she felt refreshed.)
Something powerful is happening between my girl and God lately. My mommy heart bursts with joy. Over the last week, Hannah has really connected with God through prayer. Out of the blue, Hannah is sharing sweet stories about what God is showing her. He’s making Himself known to her right when she needs Him most. During middle school…
Middle school years are tough for kids, aren’t they? The pressures and changes are non-stop. Friendships end. New ones start. Gossip galore. Hannah tells me this thought keeps coming to mind, “I don’t need to please others. Only God. And He’s already pleased with me. He made me.” I told her that’s God reminding her of His love. Then she smiles and believes; I can see it in her eyes.
Yesterday after school, Hannah smiled big and said, “Mom, something happened at school today.”
“What?”
“God told me He loved me in History class.”
With tears in my eyes, I asked for the scoop. First, Hannah shared how she wasn’t paying attention to her teacher, giggling that she knows she should have been listening. ๐ Instead she was praying. When she stopped, she heard a voice say, “I love you.” Instantly she felt a warmth and butterflies. She felt God’s comfort. She told me, “I knew He was right there.”
I’ll let her journal tell you the rest.

I shared this story with a friend last night. She said God was writing HIS-STORY in Hannah’s heart. Loved that.
I told Hannah, “Now you can tell how God showed up in your History.”

Out of the mouths of babes. How amazing. I could only think of Joel 2:28, "children will prophesy." They certainly have to be connected with God in order to do that. It seems yours is well on her way. Praise God!

My teenage son is really struggling with his identity. I feel bad for him. But at the same time, I'm glad the Lord has started answering my prayers for my son, that he would wrestle with God before he left for college.
