(This is day 7 of my 31 day blog series: Live Free. )
I hope you’re enjoying my Live Free series. I know I am. I believe it’s so important that we examine the chains in our lives and break free day by day. After all, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36) Amen? Amen. Remember I am free. You are free. So let’s live like it. 🙂
Today I’m focusing on living free from tomorrow because I’m not there yet. If I think about tomorrow too much, I tend to worry. What if this happens, what if that happens. So what, what if it does? I can’t deal with tomorrow’s problems today. Sure, I can prepare, work hard, set goals and plan, and dream, but I can never live in tomorrow.
Think about it, even tomorrow won’t be tomorrow. When you wake up tomorrow, it will again be another “today.”
So I’m challenged to live today. Now. In this moment. Free from my tomorrow because today is all I have. No one is promised tomorrow or even the whole day today for that matter. I only have this moment, this breath, this meal, this afternoon, this day. I have what God gives me today, no more, no less. And even when my today doesn’t measure up to what I want or expect, God’s grace is still sufficient. No matter what comes my way, today is a gift, a present from God’s hand. So right now I can open His gift and thank Him.
Right now birds bounce around and eat at my feeder. I love song birds.
Right now watered plants drip and drain into my kitchen sink. I love real plants.
Right now my middle-aged hands type to you. I love words.
Right now my washing machine and dishwasher sing together in harmony. I love clean.
Right now the smell of leftover kung pao chicken fills the room. I love spicy.
Right now God is with me. And boy do I love Him.
Because of Him, I live free. Yes!
Free from tomorrow, embracing today.
Q4U: How much of your today is spent thinking about tomorrow? Please share in the comments on my blog OR stop by my Facebook page.
