(This is day 2 of a 31 day blog series titled Live Free. )
Well, let me start by being real. I struggle with comparison and I’m almost 45 years old. For example, I may think:
* She’s fit. I’m flabby.
* She’s popular. I’m not.
* She’s got it made. I’ll never be as talented.
* I’m so glad I look young for my age.
I know I shouldn’t compare, but the truth is I do. And when I do, I get stuck. I either think I’m doing better than others (pride), or I think I suck (self-pity). And that is no way to live free.
In order for me to live free from comparison, I have to remember who I am.
Unique. The only me among billions. I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139: 14) Created by God, on purpose, because He loves me just as I am.
Accepting this truth helps me live a life of freedom.
So what does my unique look like?
* I love chips and salsa way too much.
* I’m silly and I love creative play.
* I’m easily distracted, forgetful and often self critical.
* I “think” way more than I actually “do”.
* I look for beauty in the simple things of life.
Today I’m on the lookout for ways I can be free from comparison by embracing my own uniqueness.
