(please take 6 minutes to watch this scene)
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9(NIV)
This intense scene from Facing the Giants makes me weep. It touches the depths of my heart. I picture those I love being pushed to their limits: physically, financially, emotionally, spiritually. I imagine their pain as they press on with their heavy load yard after yard, knowing they could easily collapse and cry.
I also feel my own pain watching this scene. I’ve played numerous roles.
I’ve watched.
I’ve been carried.
I’ve been tested.
I’ve encouraged the defeated.
Sometimes in life we are put to the ultimate test. Only God knows why.
Do you have something in your life you think is too hard to face or finish? Do you feel like it’s time to quit? Is your opponent stronger than you? Do you fear humiliation and possible loss?
Giving up is easy. I’ve done that. Crawling to the finish line is hard. Even prayer can feel overwhelming after years of crying out every day for physical healing or for a loved one’s addiction or salvation.
Today God reminded me to not give up. Like this football player, I’m weak and I can’t see a thing. Defeat is possible. I can forfeit before I even start. Or I can stay in the game and listen to my coach –God– who shouts,
“Do not quit.”
He sees in me what I cannot see. He believes in me. He knows I can finish strong with Him on my side. And like the coach in the movie, God asks,
“Can I count on you?”
My answer is yes. In all my weakness, yes. I will do the death crawl, carrying loved ones on my back (in prayer) if that’s what it takes to bring them to victory in Jesus.
I will not quit! So help me God.

This is my favorite scene from this movie. I am facing a huge giant, my husband leaving for a year to Afghanistan next Saturday and at times I truly feel I can't handle it. This morning I had a good long talk with my Lord and told Him that I'm going to keep trying as long as He's there to help me. Great post!!

Thank you Tiffany for posting this very powerful message….Do NOT QUIT! This spoke to me and is so relevant to so many others going thru extremely challenging times.
Turning it over to God is how we do get thru insurmontable challenges. "Thy Will Be Done…"
Bless you Tiffany and have a fabulous day!
Hugs,
Lynn♥

I am so glad I took 6 minutes to watch that! If we can have the same heart to say that…"I can not now go back!" There is nothing to go back to, and no reason to quit. I am also reminded to encourage my brothern to be more willing to sacrafice. To cheer them on in the place of prayer, instead of telling them they have already done enough. Those boys could of told him when he got to the 30 yard line, but instead they quietly encouraged.
Thank you so much for encouraging us!

Perseverance!! What a character trait that only God can truly develop in us! And the reward for learning it and living in it is so great! I guess God knows what He is doing, huh?

Tiffany, when our pastor just asked our small committee for suggestions about what our church needs right now, I told him that I think we need encouragement not to give up. Thank you! This is perfect. I will send him a link.

That has to be one of the best scenes of courage, determination and learning that anything is possible once you decide to do it.
What a great analogy of how our faith should be, as you stated, "crawl, carry on your back" and whatever it takes to bring loved ones to Christ.
Praise God!

Great post, dear friend… yes I have been in that place, and yes I have wanted to give up…..
It's the times that endurance is forged in us… as we learn to wait and trust… It's the running the race with endurance when our muscles ache and want to stop. There is something being woven in us in the midst of it all. Things we cannot see…
I love that He does what we cannot see.. I love that He is never idle.. but is always working behind the scenes in ways that we don't often know…
Loved reading your heart here!
