Here’s the start to an article I wrote for Ungrind.org called Desert Faith.
Moving to the eastern plains of Colorado brought me more than I expected: the excitement of decorating our first home, landscaping part of our acre of weeds, meeting new friends, finding a church, enrolling my son in school, and finding activities for my preschool daughter.
Desert living was nothing like city living.
Yes, there is desert in Colorado.

Loved the article friend.
What is ungrind? Do you write for it regularly?
That is the first I have seen of it.
I could relate to your words. You know I've been in the desert, not in a physical sense, but a emotional/spiritual sense. Papa allured me there to speak tenderly to me (Hosea 2:14-16). I know you relate.
I loved reading your heart again.
Hugs & Love to you today,
Julie

I enjoyed your article. I live in the desert… Phoenix, Arizona… I have also been in the emotional/spiritual desert as well at times. It’s so wonderful to have a Father to guide us through.

Tiffany, you are a very gifted writer. I was right there with you as I read. Wow!! Those critters made me crawl and I didn’t even have them in my house!
God is already doing amazing things with your desert experience. Beautiful!

Thank you again for visiting my blog. Yes, it is a VERY dry heat. I always tell people to put their head in the clothes dryer for a while and they will know what it feels like in the summer in Phoenix, AZ… Although I prefer it over the hot humid summers.
You have a wonderful blog.

Wow… this is great, Tiffany! I can relate somewhat to every word you wrote as I have been coming out of my own desert over the year or so. I’ve had so many days prior to this time when I would check and make sure no one was out before I ventured into my yard and at the same time envying my husband for his friends and activities. How freeing it is to turn to God and allow Him to work and pull us out of our desserts. As I’ve worked thru this over the last year, blogging is one thing I have pursued.. what a blessing it has been!
Thank you so much for this post! Words my heart so very much needed to read.
Blessing to you!

Once again you have touched deep into my soul. You have brought to my mind the desert times in my life. I can look back now with fondness, but the desert can be a lonely place. I’m thankful He met you there and brought your writing out of that seemingly dry time in your life. As you said, streams in the desert.
Have a blessed week my friend.

What a telling season in your life. Thank you for sharing you thoughts with raw honesty and truth.
We all live our deserts. Physically, emotionally, spiritually. It’s simply the way of our earthy pilgrimages. How thankful I am for my Father who takes the journey with me.
Jesus is well familiar with the desert. It’s the topic of our upcoming Fall Bible study, and I am so eager to get going on it.
Speaking of eager, come on Monday morning! (first day of school for the kids…)

Tiffany,
I am just now getting around to reading this, but I too can relate to your desert experience.
It was in one of my desert experiences that God birthed in me a hunger and thirst for Him and His Word like I never knew was possible, and my life has never been the same since then! It is not always easy, but I know without a shadow of doubt that God is with me and that He is forever faithful!
Blessings to you!

Hmmm the link didn’t work for me…guess I will try again later.
Is it at the same place as your other devotional stories?

I tried again and it worked this time! Incredible as always Tiffany! You are a gifted writer and listener to our Heavenly Father! Thanks for sharing your insight!

Always love reading your heart, my friend, and this article was no exception.
So glad you held to that still small glimmer of your faith! I too could relate to your words, particularly the moment you realized (despite the difficulties), things were much darker and bleaker before Christ.
So grateful for the incredible gift of words and expression He brought out of this desert season in your life.
Blessings,
Tracy

Hi, Tiffany. Just a quick note to ask you to stop by and visit over the weekend. There will be something special for you.
Have a great week!

Oh my, this was just incredible. You brought us right there with you Tiffany.
I’ve been to the dessert also. Ours was a move to Baltimore from Louisiana. I could relate to so many things you shared.
There were no creepy creatures for me, mine were beautiful, perfect women and families. I felt like I was living among the Stepford Wives, and I did NOT fit in for sure!! (I saw the original version of that movie many years ago!).
Thank God for those desserts. I was thinking of the passage in Duet. 8:2 as I read this:
“Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.”
What a beautiful flower you have become♥

Great article.
I’ve been in that desert place too both physically and spiritually where my faith was tested and I had to make a choice. Like you, and probably many others, I had to move first. God waited for me. Very stirring. I like your writing style and making notes of it.
