Now let’s talk books!
(sorry can’t seem to post a large pic of the cover)
Treasured by Leigh McLeroy is perfectly subtitled with “Knowing God by the Things He Keeps.” In this hard cover inspirational book, McLeroy shared how God is a collector of treasures. She shares how each treasure tells a story about God’s heart. For me, this book was my kind of book because she used symbolism and imagery. I love visuals. Objects like a scarlet thread, an olive leaf, and a golden bell represent something to us still today. They provide us with hope and a picture to remember God’s heart as we live our ordinary lives. Leigh shares her heart beautifully throughout each chapter. The way she writes feels soothing to the soul. She is honest and encouraging and vulnerable. All characteristics I look for in authors I enjoy. I loved this book. I would read it again. Especially certain chapters.

God Gave Us Love is a sweet book for children. Bergen uses a story of a Little Cub and Grampa Bear fishing together to start this book. Otters scare away their fish and upset Little Cub. From there, the talk between Grampa and Cub about God’s love begins. The overall message of God’s love was woven into this story using conversation. There were group hugs with family and encouragement from Grampa to be patient and kind. To be honest, I expected something different. I liked the book, but didn’t love, love it. My favorite part was when Little Cub asks Grampa if there is anything we could do to make God not love us. Grampa’s answer is powerful and true! I thought the artwork was beautifully done. I’m sure a young child would really enjoy this book.

God Gave Us Christmasis another sweet children’s book. Perfect for parents to read to their younger child/ren. I enjoyed the artwork in this book. Very colorful and the bears were cute. This story was more adventurous and less conversation than God Gave Us Love. And for that reason, I liked it better. I like action. In this story, Mama and Little Cub go out to find God and discover how God gave us Christmas. There were scenes of the Northern Lights and glaciers and the bright Morning Star. The story of Jesus is shared in a creative way to teach a younger audience. Great book for little ones.

Tiffany, the books are wonderful…so sweet of you to give them away…I know the lucky winner will greatly benefit from them.
I haven't been keeping up with my blogging friends lately, and just read your Saturday post. I saw this wonderful movie 2 or 3 years ago, and I'm so glad you posted this particular scene. There are times that I don't feel that I can go another 20 steps with my daughter, but I know that I may be required to go another 20 years with her…only God knows how long He will give me, or her, but I know I can't give up…I have to give my best, for as long as He gives me strength. This movie was a wonderful example of the battles we face, and so often we give up before we even pick up our sword. We have the power of Almighty God behind us, yet we lay down in defeat.
I was blessed this morning with this…so glad the Lord laid it on your heart to share, and even though I didn't see it when you posted it yesterday, it was there for me today…isn't God awesome?!
God bless you, Tiffany!
Mary
