As a Thomas Nelson book reviewer blogger(try to say that three times fast), I love reading and reviewing great books. What a gift books are. They encourage me like a trusted friend and in turn, I can encourage you. A win, win!
Find Your Strongest Life helps women discover their strengths and teaches them how to live them out each and every day in both work and play. Buckingham uses real people and real issues to land his points. If you are a stay-at-home mom, there’s truth inside this book for you. Yes, you! If you are single, you are definitely included. If you are working full-time and juggling children, this book speaks to you. Every women of every age can benefit from reading this book.
I did.
Buckingham writes a great chapter, Catch-and-Cradle, describing the process of living out our “strong moments”. I love this quote from that chapter, “You must see through the mask of obligation to your true feelings, and you must accept them, wherever they lead.”
Reading this book was freeing and confirming to me because I don’t like trying to stuff my free-spirited life inside someone else’s obligation box. I’ve done that and felt exhausted. Drained dry. I want freedom to live with passion and purpose at my own God-given pace, which requires honesty and courage.
What am I taking away after reading this book?
* I’m challenged to redefine the word balance. Maybe my goal isn’t balance after all. Yeah! It never worked anyway.
* I’m encouraged to starve my weaknesses the attention I give them and feed my strengths. This principle applies to all of life and is so helpful. I thought of this for my marriage. Great!
* I plan to reread certain chapters like Accept What You Find, which focuses on helping women narrow down our many choices. I can get caught up there. This chapter helps.
* This book is a powerful, practical reference when I need it. A keeper.
