Being still to me means not only slowing down and stopping, avoiding all of the busyness of life, but also quieting my spirit, mind and emotions so that I can truly hear what God is speaking to me.

Tiffany, that is a beautiful picture. To me "Be still" means taking time every day to be quiet before God. In the midst of all the craziness of life I need to center myself and focus on Him.

Great to hear from you Tiffany. I thank God for your posts. Amen.

Motion is the opposite of stillness. So to me, "Be still" means to stop trying to make things work on my own and trust the One who has all power on Heaven and earth to bring to pass His will. He is God and I am not! Sometimes we try so hard to make God's will happen in our lives, even in spiritual ways, that we do not let God do His part. "Be still" and Rest in His care. Know that He loves you and cares for you. Let Him do the work and be God.

Tiffany,
In the context the verse was written, God was telling David to cease from warlike activities. Based on that it has always meant, to me, to stop battling our daily problems and let God take over.
Blessings, Rose
PS. Love the photo. It's perfect!

When the storm of life is raging and I am calm within. That's being still for me. Beautiful picture.
Wyliesays
To me, it is taking time to pray, but more time to listen b/c God is speaking! It's about settling the matter of authority each & every day & choosing to live in the Spirit. He blesses that choice & that still time every time! Wylie

Being still can truly be the biggest challenge. Stilling our heart, our mind, our thoughts. Getting in the place of quietness not so that I can do all the talking, but stilling even MY words so that God can speak, and I in return can listen.
Thanks for sharing this verse.

To be still…making time for God everyday. I look forward to being still in the mornings. It makes my day and I don't mean that with a Clint Eastwood accent. 🙂

Beautiful picture…stillness in the Lord for me is having an open heart and mind for His voice and words…focusing on that instead of all the chaos and confusion around me….

Ah…. stillness is one of my favorite places now…
It didn't use to be. I used to be unnerved by the verse, "be still and know I am God." But He introduced me to stillness.
Stillness is where I cease my efforts and He starts His.
It's the place where God becomes a verb in my life.
He becomes the action.
It's one of the most amazing places I've ever known.
Beautiful picture… beautiful thoughts….
