As the leaves fall and the grass turns yellow, this Christmas cactus blooms.
I have two of these plants from my son’s science fair project from last year. They are special because of that memory–that pain-in-the-rear project. Two out of the five survived the experiment.
I repotted them this spring and hoped for the best. But I never expected them to look this beautiful, especially this time of year, when the days are shorter and winter is coming.
Isn’t God good?
I’d like to know what your secret is? Mine looks rather sickly. I am not sure I am caring for it properly but it was a gift from a few Christmas’ back and I would hate to see it die on me!
Yours is so gorgeous and healthy looking!
Not sure what I do to keep it healthy. It’s in a clay pot and I let it dry out between waterings. It gets direct morning sun.
Hope that helps you Kathleen Marie!
My grandmother loved these plants – I for one not good at keeping house plants alive – funny cuz I love to garden outside – but in the house – I forget them – and they die!
Thanks for sharing that, I have never heard of a Christmas Catus. It’s so pretty. I think I’ll look for one if we are settled b/f christmas as we may be in the process of moving from the warm sunny FL to VA, where I am guessing is not so warm this time of year. lol
