“He [God] is very patient with us when we are trying to be patient with Him.”
~ Elisabeth Elliott ~
When I was young, I couldn’t wait to open my Christmas presents, so I peeked. Sorry, Mom. During my pregnancies, I had to know if my baby was a boy of girl, so I asked during my ultrasounds. I still hate waiting to find out if an article I submitted is accepted or rejected. I compulsively check my e-mail hoping to hear something. I’m the same way with my mailbox. The first day I get my butt back into the gym I expect to look instantly firmer. I’m easily frustrated with delays. I want to be over all my issues today. Not later.
I’m impatient.
I’m not like God. And I feel guilty considering patience is a fruit of the Spirit. I should be more relaxed in the waiting. I should trust God’s timing and not try to rush his plans.
We’ve all heard, “Never pray for patience or you’ll be tested.” A friend of mine says just the opposite. She’s willing to pray for patience. She believes we can’t avoid the trials of life so why not ask God to help us get through them with patience. I agree.
Lord, you know my heart. You know how easily I get discouraged and upset. You know how badly I desire change in my character. Forgive me for the times I’ve complained or doubted you when I should’ve been content. Fill me up with the fruit of your Spirit this day. Love, joy, peace, self control, faith, goodness, kindness, gentleness–and yes, Lord,–even patience.
Thank you, Bonnie, for hosting this week’s quote.

Maybe we need to be patient with ourselves in our impatience! I’m the same way – compulsively checking the mail or email for a response instead of waiting peacefully.

I’ve been there with wanting to know if I had a boy or girl and then after that being impatient for the baby being born! Lol…it seems just as soon as we get that inch..we have to have that whole mile!
Wonderful post!
