Today I talked with my blogging friend, Barbara Keene. We are still working out the details for our upcoming online radio show, starting in March. While talking with B, she pointed out something to me. And she was right.
You see, this week I told Barbara I would post about our show. And I did. But at the same time, I didn’t want to share because I felt like I was tooting my own horn. I hate the idea of marketing or promoting myself. That’s one of the reasons I stopped freelance writing in 2009. ๐ That’s another blog post altogether.
Here’s what I did: I posted TWO blog posts yesterday. I rarely do that. I think I’ve posted twice in one day only a couple times in five years of blogging. First I posted about our show. Then a few hours later, I posted again. By posting twice, I knew what I was doing. I was moving our radio news to second position. Hoping to put it out of your sight. Is it my pride? Insecurity? What?
Bottom line is I was caught, trying to hide.
That’s what turtle girls do.
Hide.
The last thing I want to do is turn a spotlight on myself. If I do, I’ve steered you the wrong way. But the truth is I have a constant ache to share Jesus through the written and spoken word. I cannot get enough of God. His presence. His love. His Word. His activity in the world. His creation. I want to talk about Him all day long with whoever wants to share.
So it’s time to stop hiding and thank God. He has given me another way to share. I don’t take this opportunity lightly. It’s a gift to be able to speak out. I have no idea what will become of our show. Both, Barbara and I are willing to try and see what happens. We do know God led us to this place.
As long as I have freedom of speech and breath, I want to shout out His name!
No more hiding HIM.
Hope you will tune in to “OUR HIDING PLACE” next month as Barbara and I share Him. Join us in the conversation. We’d love to have you with us.
Lord, help me share what YOU are doing in my heart. Thank You for the opportunity of online radio. Help all your sons and daughters speak out as You lead them. We want to hide ourselves in You. There we are held, loved and secure. Thank You for loving us like You do. You are so faithful. In Jesus name, Amen.

Amen Tiffany. We can hide in God… God will cover us. However, we in turn need to share Him with others… It'll be Him they see, not us.

Tiffany:
Echoing B – "Way to stick your neck out."
And she should do the same soon too – we're missing that 'turtle girl' big time!
This is the first I've heard of this online radio venture but I can't wait to listen when it comes on! God is doing amazing things in the lives of the women [and men – thanks Warren, Greg and Luke] who grace the likes of this place we lovingly call Blogland!
The connections that God is making is a movement that ONLY His Holy Spirit could possibly bring about for a purpose of uniting true believers who are whole-heartedly sold out to HIM and His kingdom agenda! We are in for tough times very soon – we must stand with CHRIST in the battles that come. He has already Won that Victory and that is HOW we can stand!
I know your hearts! I know you desire to present the TRUTH of God's Word – not just ideas of your own. God will honor you for that rank! Hold to it, Girls!
I praise Him for His Voice – IN YOU [and B]. You are both such a blessing!
Eagerly anticipating the arrival of your program!
Choosing JOY in GREAT EXPECTATIONS,
Stephanie

I love your honesty…and I understand what you are saying…but you are right in your final observance..God is giving you an opportunity to share…and here in blogworld…people know your heart…there is no pride there. The show sounds wonderful and the opportunity…a harvest waiting to be gathered.

Glad she reminded you that you were tooting GODS horn and no one elses.

Oh man, I did that also yesterday. I've been contemplating doing one of those ask me anything posts but was afraid no one would ask me anything and I would look lame and plus the whole this seems vain factor was there. I wanted to do it though because like in my real life I try really hard to be as transparent as possible. I share what I want to share in my blog so thats all anyone sees. I squirmed under the pressure so only a few hours later posted again hoping to hide that post as well. I was found anyway by another blogger and she asked all the hard questions. I will have to think through asnwers to her questions. I'm rolling my eyes at me.

Tiffany,
I have never thought of you as self-promoting. I see God in all your posts and when we share about HIM it brings glory to HIM not us. Keep doing what you are doing! God bless you and best wishes for the radio program.
Hugs,
Rose

Sometimes God shines the light on us to show the Jesus that's underneath. Embrace what God has for you and trust His guidance. I know exactly what you're talking about and feeling (deal with it myself), but it's false humility. Go for it and we'll all be excited with you as it unfolds and shows people Jesus. ๐

Oh for heaven's sake, get out of the shell and start tooting! It is for heaven's sake and heaven's gain, and I speak for many when I say we'd never consider anything you do self-promotion.
Yes, I'd love to join you in the conversation. How do I do that?

Tiffany! Your plan worked for me. I completely missed that post! I'm so excited for you and "B"! I hope I will be able to hear your show. I'm so proud of you both and will be praying that you touch many many hearts.

Yeah…I get it, too. But how would we know if you didn't tell us? I want to her my 2 friends on the radio. Let me toot the horn for you 2! Make sure we know the details again in plenty of time to toot, toot, toot.
It all about HIM. We know that, too.
Love,
Melanie@Bella~Mella

What a great opportunity, Tiffany! I totally understand about not wanting to "toot your own horn", but PLEASE keep us updated on this. Would love to hear all about it!

Tiffany,
I can really relate to your fears about self-promotion and wanting to kind of stay in the background, but also having a passion for Jesus you want all to hear about. I pray for the Lord's abundant blessing on your new radio venture I know that you have so much to share with us all!!
