By yourself you’re unprotected.
With a friend you can face the worst.
Can you round up a third?
A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped.
Ecclesiastes 4:12(MSG)
Ever since the beginning of this year, I’ve had friends and family come under serious hardship. Left and right, people I love are suffering. Stressed out. Afraid. Some involve legal matters, others job loss, some sickness, one involves a dying friend. Let’s not forget Haiti. That alone is beyond devastating.
What do we do? How can we help those who are walking through the fire right now?
My answer: Wrap them in a strong strand of prayer.
Yes, I believe we should help through financial means, a meal, or a visit or phone call when we can. But our efforts shouldn’t stop there, I believe in the power of prayer.
Do you agree?
Maybe today is a day to wrap another strand around the ones you love. You may never know, your prayer may be the one thing that keeps them standing. Serving as a secure lifeline holding them up and steady.
Father God, I lift up all those in need today. You know them by name. You love them and have not abandoned them, even now when life is tough. You long to comfort them and bring them peace. Please Lord, come close to those who are waiting and wondering what’s next. Allow them to experience rest and even unexpected joy today. Flood them with waves of Your love. Carry them to dry land where they can soak up Your Son. In Jesus name, Amen
(pic taken at zoo, reminded me of this verse above. I saw it as a prayerful hug as we connect rope to rope with one another.)

I am so amazed at God! You have to read the post, I just did tonight before reading yours. I know God gave you yours just for me today. I believe in the power of prayer too….and you are so right….stand with others in prayer agreeing when they need it. Hope you will stand in prayer with me too!

I hear your heart! A very close friend called me the other day and just sobbed, "Everyone around me is suffering, marriages are falling apart and lives are being shattered." So……. we prayed! I am learning more and more that praying God's Word back to Him and also speaking it aloud so the enemy can hear it packs POWER into the same prayer but with a supernatural power packed punch. Aside from the Holy Spirit – prayers go nowhere and affect no one. But with that power – lives are changed and grown and restored. I've found most recently that I do what I can – a meal – being a help is good – but God can accomplish the most through my praying where He does the work, the help and the restoring!

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers
them out of them all. Is not the bible filled with the history
of the sufferings of the people of God more than that of the wicked?
Abel, Jacob, Joseph, The Israelites in Egypt, Moses,
David, Job, Elijah, Jeremiah, Jonah, Zechariah, John the Baptist
(the greatest man ever born of woman), the Lord Jesus, Stephen, Peter,
James and Paul and the early churches and now up to today the
true Christians.
As Job says, But He knows the way that I take;
When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.
Job finally learned not to question the wisdom of God after his
devastating losses. His final words are "I retract, and I repent in
dust and ashes." Those words were his "gold."

In my study time last evening for our women's Bible study on "me, myself, and lies," this exact verse from Ecc. was the focus. I kid you not. And while I've read it umpteen times before, heard sermons on it etc., last night it struck me afresh and powerfully. Your words have confirmed it this morning.
Yes, prayer is a rich and rare gift we can give to one another… always. I give you mine this day, sister. I'll take one as well.
Have a good one.
