Ever feel like you aren’t qualified to do anything great for God? I do. Especially on days when I compare myself to others. Comparing leads me to a list of “I’m not’s.”
I’m not a college graduate.
I’m not a full-time working professional. Who’s going to respect me?
I’m not financially well off, so my lofty goals and dreams are limited.
I’m not a young chick anymore. Fine lines don’t lie.
I’m not a good cook.
I’m not as talented as so and so.
I’m not as organized as . . .
And so on.
The bottom line is I’m ordinary. **(To finish reading this, I’m over at Laced with Grace.)

Tiffany, I just want you to know how talented I think you are because I see first hand what a wonderful Mom you are to Justin and Hannah. God gave us all different talents in life. I admire you for having such a way with words, the beauty you see in nature. You have such a talent in seeing beyond when taking pictures. You are a beautiful wife, Mom and daughter-in-law. God wants us to recognize and accept the positives he has blessed us with and let go of the negative. Sometimes we listen so hard we miss seeing and hearing the blessings God has put right before us.

What an interesting blog Tiffany! I am so glad that you came over and joined mine so that it could lead me here to you…this is the kind of good honest writing I feel compelled to read!
A lot of the things you are not, I am not…oh but I know what and who I am! A seeker after God's heart and an earnest disciple of Christ…failing often but despairing never!

Great post, Tiffany. Wasn't sure whether to leave a comment there or here. How many times have I, too, wallowed in my "not's"? Have mercy … to think of all the time I've wasted. A while back, I wrote on this very topic basing my thoughts on 1 Corinthians 1:26-31. The verse that really stuck out to me is this:
"He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things–and the things that are not–to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him."
He chose our "not's", friend, so that any glory that comes through us belongs to him alone!
Isn't he something?!
Love you. Mean it.

I'm so glad that God uses the weak and foolish things of this world, that gives me hope that He can use me!
Thanks for following along with us! I hope i can be an encouragement and point you to the Lord in some small way as you read about our ordinary family.
