Thankful this Thursday for:
the beauty of creation. (Yes, I took this picture while driving the other day. Garden of the Gods Park is on the left near the bottom of the mountain. Notice the red rocks. They help put the size of this mountain in prospective, if you’ve been there.)
Every morning I can’t wait to look outside. I open my blinds hoping for an array of colors in the sky. I eagerly anticipate the full view of Pikes Peak as I drive my son to his carpool stop. The peak is gorgeous. Sometimes it is snow covered. Othertimes just the tip is cloud covered. Sometimes there’s amazing shadows or even a few fluffy clouds below the mountaintop, which the peak is over 14,000 feet high. The peak is always different, but always breathtaking. I feel alive when I see God’s handiwork. Mighty and majestic is our God.
Today the words of “America the Beautiful” rose up inside me as I glimpsed Pikes Peak once again. Join me in echoing the lyrics penned by Katharine Lee Bates, an instructor at Wellesley College, Massachusetts, after a train trip to the top of Pikes Peak in 1893.
“O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassion’d stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness.
America! America!
God mend thine ev’ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law.
O beautiful for heroes prov’d
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life.
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev’ry gain divine.
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears.
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea.”
I am so thankful I live in Colorado Springs. I get a little glimpse of heaven everyday.
I’ll share my Easter thoughts later this week. God bless you all.

Thank you, Tiffany, for posting this awesome picture of God’s creation. What a magnificent, majestic, more-than-beautiful mountain! I can’t imagine having that kind of view every day. I can only hope to see it once in my life time. How can one look at Pike’s Peak and not believe in the Creator God? I sometimes try to find pictures of mountains on-line, but this one tops them all. I came over from Robin’s site…seeing who she tagged. This is another great blog site. I don’t know how I am going to find time to blog if I keep checking everyone else’s site out…but I have just stepped into this brand new world of Christian blogging a couple of weeks ago, and I am overwhelmed by the giftedness and talents that are out here. I love your opening picture…the welcoming front porch…makes me just want to come up and sit a spell. You love beauty, so obvious by the selections you have posted. Tea with Tiffany…with all her great surroundings? You bet!! I’ll be back, when I have more time!

That is beautiful Tiffany.
I remember many years ago, Jim was stationed in Ill. It was one long year and I longed for my mountains. I started crying as we came west on the way to our new assignment. The closer we came, the bigger the Peak became and although tears were running hard, my heart was full of joy. I think it kinda grows on people.
Happy Easter everyone.
