God’s goodness isn’t dependent upon my right behavior. God’s goodness surpasses my best and worst performance days. God is good all the time. Some times God makes his goodness extra clear.
Today was one of those days for me. I met with my friend Rachelle who is a literary agent to talk about writing and life. By the end of our meeting, I became one of her official clients. (Visit Rachelle’s agent blog)
This experience almost took my breath away. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. I can’t believe God is opening this door for me to write my passion. Who am I? I can’t believe someone else believes in me enough to say “I’ll represent you and your idea.”
I’m humbled to the point of not knowing what to do, how to react, or who to tell. I’m full of emotions.
In some ways, I feel sad to tell people this. Especially friends I know who would kill for an agent. I want them to have one too. I’m not sure why the timing is now for me and wait for them. But obviously God knows best. I can only speculate.
I don’t understand God’s goodness. When I reflect on my daily battles and attitudes, I think I don’t deserve a yes. And yet God’s love and grace isn’t based on my behavior. This is the hardest reality to grasp. I don’t have to do anything to earn God’s approval or acceptance. He loves me for who I am. Not for what I can do for him. This is mind boggling.
So celebrate with me, would you? Let’s celebrate how good the God we serve is. God is good–all the time.
And if you want, stop by Rachelle Gardner’s blog and see why I’m so thrilled to have her as my agent.
God is up to something here. I’m just not sure what. This whole idea can be scary. I pray I can fulfill his purpose and not stop short because of fear or discouragement.

Hey, that’s awesome! Congratulations! I’m jealous that you live close and got to meet in person. Since I live in Bermuda I won’t get to meet Rachelle until September at the ACFW conference. Unless of course she decides to come on vacation to Bermuda before then, but from what I’ve read of her schedule that doesn’t seem likely!
So what are you working on?
I love your blog. If you’d like to exchange links I can put yours on our Writers’ Rest blog.

Really, really, really???!!! That is awesome! I’ve been thinking to myself, “When I’m ready, I’m talking to Rachelle.” I’m not ready yet…
I’m so happy for you as you continue to make steps forward in this process.
