Too many Christians are living in the house of fear and not in the house of love.
The Ragamuffin Gospel, Brennan Manning
I’m reading Manning’s book again and for some reason this quote in his first chapter assaulted me. I’m guilty of living in the house of fear.
I fear failing God.
I fear being honest with my husband for fear of rejection.
I fear my bad attitudes affect my children.
I fear men. Life taught me they can’t be trusted.
I fear saying no to others. I do it, but I hate to because I want to please everyone. I want to be liked.
Okay, there’s my confession for today. I’m working on building a house of love. In this house things look much different.
Love never fails.
Love accepts and forgives.
Love keeps no record of wrongs.
Love protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres.
I’m in the process of a home makeover.
Out with the old–fear.
And in with the new–love.
How ’bout you?
Denise says
I pray for the construction of your new home my sweet friend, love you.

That is so true. I love Manning’s book, and I’ve also written several posts on fear! ๐
