A Prayer for Dreamers

(Thank you for your patience about my weekly Sweet P’s prayer posts. I’m hoping to be more consistent now that I made it through end of the school year with my kids and my son’s graduation!)

Holy God, the One and Only God of all creation, I praise You today. Thank You for the gift of life. Thank You for giving me dreams, Your God-sized dreams. Thank You for the way You continue to remind me to dream even when I grow weary and feel discouraged or defeated. Thank You for lifting me up when I fall short of doing what You dream for my life. Thank You for never losing sight of me when I wander off chasing those silly rabbits. Thank You.

Lord God, I’m in serious need of surrender. So much is at stake if I keep clinging to the old. I must embrace Your new and that includes the dreams You have set before me right now, today. Help me to stop trying to figure out every detail of the dream. Help me say “yes” to You without knowing fully. Give me strength to move forward and take a small step anyway.

I trust You see in full when I only see in part. Your Word says I have a hope and a future. Thank You for the comfort of truth. I so need it throughout my day, I especially need it to keep on dreaming. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit that reminds me of truth when I start believing lies all over again. I don’t want to waste another moments believing things that aren’t true.

The truth is:

* Nothing is too hard for You. That includes those big-feels-like-impossible-dreams.

* Your arm is never too short. You reach me wherever I am and You uphold me in the face of big obstacles. I am secure if I remain in You.

* You are my life, even more so than any dreams I have. You are it! The dream of my life, that’s You.

* You are the dream giver, so any good dream I ever live out is Yours. You get ALL the credit.

* I am Yours. Nothing can separate me from Your great love. We are family, I am Your child. Thank You for adopting me.

* Your dreams for my life are always good. Even in the waiting. Even when things don’t go my way. Even when dreaming feels like fantasy land.

* I am already equipped to live out the dreams You have for me because You live IN me. You alone provide strengthen when I am weak. You are working in and through me when I feel inadequate.

* God, I can trust You. I repeat I can trust You, not only with my dreams, but with my entire life. Thank You, Jesus.

* I dream of living so close to You that the world wonders what this crazy love is all about.

Lord, help us –Your dreamers– live and love well. We don’t have time to second guess You anymore. People need more love, so help us live Your dreams of love today. For I believe Your greatest dream for humanity is that we would know You intimately and share Your everlasting and unfailing love with others. Please help me do that a little more today.

In the mighty name of my savior, Jesus, I pray. Amen..
