Have you picked a word for the year?
For the past several years, instead of resolutions, I’ve picked a word by prayerfully ask God what He wants me to focus on. He knows what I need when I need it. This year’s word took me a little longer than usual to pick. I even thought about keeping my “believe” word because I still struggle with unbelief. 🙂
Anyway, I finally landed on a word that fits.
FOLLOW
In 2011, I want to take up my cross and follow God no matter what. Too often I find myself make excuses. Fear speak louder than my faith. Insecurities wash over me when I’m about to jump. But this year I am being challenged to go beyond the voices of doubt and believe and follow. Follow more closely, listen and respond immediately.
I want people to know the One who changed my life from despair to delight…To do that I must intentionally follow Him.
Here’s some “follow” verses I’ve selected.
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” Matthew 4:19
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Gal. 5:1-2

2010 word: BELIEVE
2009 word: FREEDOM
2008 word: FREELY GIVE
2007 word: COMFORT
In 2006, my word was TRUST. I didn’t write a specific post that year.)
Q4U: Do you have a word or verse for 2011?
Joan Davis says
I struggle with fear as well. But my word for 2011 is “deeper”. I want to go deeper with Him in all areas of my life — prayer, worship, study, relationship. Keeping that in mind, I’m sure it’s going to be a blessed year!

Wow, Joan. I love your word.
Deeper.
Powerful to consider that for you for this year. I know God will bless your desire to grow deeper in Him.
Thanks for stopping by.
Look forward to visiting you.

My word for 2011 is “trust”. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10

Trust.
That needs to be my word moment by moment.
I love it, Cindy. Thanks for sharing.
Jan Parrish says
God gives me phrases. I will be writing on that next. Right now I’m facing more surgery. I struggled with it for a few days but finally settled it. You can read all about it in my latest post. God is so good. I meet with the Dr. tomorrow to find out more. Great word for the year.
Blessings, Jan

Jan, I read your powerful prayer last night. And it blessed my heart to read all the ways you see God’s love and provision during such a hard time. I’m praying for you. Yes, still. Much love…
Kimberly Edwards says
My word for 2011 is focus. I want to focus all my attentions on Yehwah. I’ve already posted to my blog. You can see my scripture there.
Blessings to you in this fruitful new year.

Kimberly, Focus could have been my word too. I tend to be easily distracted. There are so many powerful words to choose from, aren’t there?
I will pop over and read your scripture. Thanks for the visit.
Hope you are back to being fully mobile for the start of 2011. 🙂
