Sometimes the only way I can lift myself up from my thoughts of despair is to spend time talking to God and focusing on truth. Lately I’ve been feeling weak and sick, so I’ve been down. And emotional.
Yesterday I spent time listening to celtic praise music while my family went to the movies. And I wrote out everything I could think of about God and then about who I am in Christ. My list looked something like this.
Truth:
God is good.
God is trustworthy.
God is all knowing.
God is all powerful.
God never leaves me.
God loves me.
God hears me.
God sees me.
God understands me.
God heals.
God delivers.
God keeps his promises.
God is full of mercy.
God is able to do miracles.
God never fails.
Then I wrote:
More truth:
I am loved.
I am forgiven.
I am God’s child.
I am accepted.
I am worthy.
I have a good purpose.
I am created to know God and make him known.
I am a friend of God’s.
I am free.
I can rest in God’s comfort.
I am chosen.
I am part of God’s holy priesthood.
I can approach God with confidence and receive mercy in my time of need.
I will one day enter eternity and receive my reward.
I will one day see God’s face.
I will one day have no more tears.
God comforted me as I remembered truth. It’s so easy when I am feeling sick to think the worst. So today, I’m still weak but I am also thankful. I spent time this morning thanking God for another day and everything else I could think of that matters.
So if you are in a low place, lean into God, and He will comfort you. Remember the truth. It helps.
God is who he says he is. “The God of all comfort.”

Thank you, Tiffany. I needed that today. This weekend I was sick, weak, and very emotional. You reminded me that I’m in dire need of a good dose of truth. God bless you and heal you all over.

What a great list, Tiffany. Sometimes I make a list of lies, too, just to remind myself of some of the untruths I tend to believe:
–I’m not good enough.
–God is disappointed with me.
–I don’t deserve forgiveness.
etc, etc. Lies!
